World Travel Awards in October 2009
On 17th October 2009, the five star Marriott hotel in the Praia D’El Rey Golf & Beach Resort, on Portugal’s Silver Coast, will be hosting the European leg of the highly prestigious 2009 World Travel Awards.
Hundreds of travel professionals and international media representatives will be in the resort to celebrate the European Gala Awards ceremony,– the first time the World Travel Awards have been hosted in Portugal.
Dubbed the “Oscars of the travel industry” by the Wall Street Journal and televised by BBC World, votes for the World Travel Awards are cast by an audience of 167,000 travel agents and tourism professionals from 198 countries, making them the greatest form of recognition in the travel business.
“We are delighted to have been chosen to host this prestigious event,” says Stuart Swycher, the Chairman of Beltico Group, owners of the resort. “Praia D’El Rey won Portugal’s Leading Resort at the World Travel Awards in 2007 and 2008, and we are looking forward to welcoming the travel industry’s key decision makers to Portugal’s Silver Coast in October this year.”
